Overview
Xceptional Heroes is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Flint, Michigan — 'Finding the Superpowers in all Abilities' — providing inclusive social, recreational, and life-skills activities for young adults 17+ with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Genesee County, from their home base at The HUB.
The Challenge
The audience includes the Heroes themselves, their families, volunteers, and donors — so accessibility couldn't be a compliance checkbox; it had to be the foundation. The organization also needed events, RSVPs, volunteer coordination, donations, a merch shop, and newsletters in one place, replacing scattered Facebook posts and paper forms.
Our Solution
We built an accessibility-first monorepo with WCAG 2.2 AA as the floor, not the goal: large high-contrast type, full keyboard support, reduced-motion respect, and a visible on-page accessibility toolbar. A public Astro site pairs with a React member/family portal — event RSVPs, volunteer management, and an admin dashboard — backed by a Fastify API handling Stripe donations, shop orders, and the newsletter.

Imlay City Rotary Club
A Turborepo monorepo for the Imlay City Rotary Club: a public Astro site at icrotary.com, a member portal at members.icrotary.com, and a Fastify + Postgres API. Members handle lunch credits, raffle tickets, donations, meeting check-in, and photo uploads in one place. A daily cron rebuilds the public site only when club content actually changes.
Memphis Nightmare
The official site for Terror at the Timberline — Memphis Nightmare LLC's one-weekend haunted maze in Memphis, Michigan, where 100% of net proceeds fund the Memphis Days fireworks. A horror-themed Astro front-end with an opening-night countdown, backed by a Fastify + Postgres API running Stripe Checkout for $5 tickets and donations, plus volunteer signups for the all-neighbor crew that builds the maze.
