Overview

Mr. Lee buys junk and unwanted vehicles across the state of Michigan with same-day cash and free towing. They needed a website that could capture leads instantly, ask only the questions that actually matter, and route those leads into an SMS-driven follow-up workflow run by their team.

The Challenge

In the cash-for-cars space, every minute between a customer's first click and the first phone call is a chance to lose them to a competitor. Long forms kill conversion. Photo uploads are technically tricky but invaluable for fair pricing. And the operational reality — phones dialing back within 15 minutes — required a backend that could move data into the dispatcher's hands without delay.

Our Solution

We built a 30-second quote flow on Next.js 16 with progressive disclosure: VIN/make-model first, then condition, then optional photos via signed S3 uploads. Submitted leads land in DynamoDB and trigger a Lambda that fans out notifications and primes the SMS follow-up sequence. Thirteen city-specific landing pages cover the dominant local-search queries (Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Flint, etc.) with shared content templates.

Key Features

30-second quote engine with progressive disclosure
S3 presigned-URL photo uploads (browser → S3 direct)
DynamoDB lead store with TTL for stale-lead pruning
Lambda-driven notification & SMS follow-up workflow
13 city-specific landing pages for statewide local SEO
Tailwind v4 + Next.js 16 with React 19
Vitest unit tests for quote-validation logic

Results

Fast lead intake — quotes submit in well under a minute
Photo-bearing leads enable accurate first-call pricing
Statewide search coverage via per-city landing pages
